Chandigarh: There is a hospital called ‘Guru ka Langar’ in Sector-18 of the city, where all eyes are treated for free with all kinds of ailments. Hundreds of patients come to the hospital daily from different states of India to treat their illness. Informing about this, hospital manager Harjit Singh Sauharwal said that 105 people were given eye light in the hospital last month. The corneas of their eyes were changed for free. There is currently no Eye Bank in the hospital, so they have to manage their eyes externally. There is an eye specialist in the hospital.
Harjit said the hospital was started in February 2018. Hospital costs are incurred here, from eye examination to operation, to medication and eyeglasses. Hospital management is also arranged for the eating and drinking of outpatients. Patients who undergo surgery in the hospital, or who need medication, are also given free medicines. Most of the patients come here for cataract, retina, and operation.
