Here we are talking about Sati but not Parvati. She was Shiva’s first wife and she loved him a lot. The daughter of a Raja Daksh. Daksha, depicted in legend as an arrogant king, did not accept lord as his son-in-law and basically cut his daughter away from her family. Daksha organized a yagna ritual and invited all the Gods, Goddesses and princes. But he did not invite Shiva or Sati because he was unhappy with their marriage. This step of his father to insult Lord made Sati very angry, due to which she killed herself in self-sacrifice.
It is said that Hanuman is the eleventh avatar of Lord Siva.Hanuman avatar is considered as the supreme avatar of him. Lord has taken this avatar during the time of Lord Rama to present a good example of the Lord and Bhakt in front of the people.It is often called Avatar of Hanuman is a reincarnation of Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva became angry on the sati’s self-sacrifice. He got rid of all his creatures in the whole creation.
He went to holy river Ganga and went to samadhi. On the other side, Tarakasur received the blessing by God Brahma to be killed by the son of Lord Shiva. On receiving the boon, he began to create destruction in the whole creation. So all god asked for help from Kamadeva to break samadhi of Shiva.
Kamadev used to floral arrows on him by hiding behind the leaves of the mango tree to awaken Bholenath. The flower arrow was directly placed in the heart of Lord Shiva, and his samadhi broke.He woke up in anger and burnt Kamdev standing with his third eye and reduced him into ashes.
Lord Shiva as Nataraj form is also called the dancing Shiva. If you go by the meaning of the word Natraj it means the king of dancers. His dance is called tandavam or Nadanta. Apasmara was a dwarf who represented ignorance. Apasmara grew extremely arrogant of his powers and went on to challenge Lord Shiva. It was then that Lord Shiva took the form of Nataraja and performed the famous Tandava or the dance of destruction, eventually crushing Apasmara under His feet.
Ardhnarishwar is a composite form of the Hindu God Shiva and Parvati. Ardhanarishvara is depicted as half male and half female, split down the middle. The right half is usually the male Shankar, left is female.In order to explain Brahmaji the mystery of Mathuni creation, Lord shankar displayed half of his body in a woman form. It is a perfect example of marriage.
Nandi is depicted as a bull, who serves as the guard of Kailash.Shilad Muni asked Indra Dev to bless him with the blessings of the child. But Indra expressed this inability to give boon and asked Lord Shiv to please him.Lord Shankar got happy with the strict penance of Shilad Muni, gave him a boon to get a son and he appeared in the form of Nandi. From the boon of Shankar, Nandi was Ajar-Amar. Lord Shankar, with the consent of Uma, appointed Nandi as a leader of all in front of Ganeshas and Vedas.In this way Nandi became Nandishwar.
The Samudra Manthana process released a number of things from the Ocean of Milk. One was the poison terrified the gods and demons because the poison was so powerful that it could destroy all of creation. Then the gods approached Shiva for protection. Lord consumed the poison in an act to protect the universe, and his consort, Parvati, grabbed Shiva’s throat in an effort to prevent the most deadly poison from affecting the universes inside Lord Shiva. As a result, Shiva’s throat turned blue. For this reason, Lord is also called Neelakantha.
Lord Shiva was on his way to Kashi along with one crore gods and goddesses. He asked all of them to wake up before sunrise next day, before taking a rest in Tripura. But in the morning, no one except Shiva woke up. This made him angry and in result he set out for Kashi on his own, cursing the others to become stone images.
Lord Shiva agreed to receive Ganga in his matted locks on the urge of Bhagirathi and Brahma.But, Ganga was arrogant and tried to drown Lord by pushing him to the core of the earth, but the mighty Shiva easily held her in his locks.Shiva’s tie was so strong that Ganga became helpless.He wanted to teach Ganga a lesson but instead released her in seven streams as he was satisfied with the prayers of Bhagiratha. The seven streams of Ganga are Bhagirathi, Janhvi, Bhilangana, Mandakini, Rishiganga, Saraswati and Alaknanda. Ganga became calm and followed Bhagirathi.
One day Goddess Parvati was at home on Mt.Kailash preparing for a bath. As she didn’t want to be disturbed, she posted Ganesha on guard duty at the door. Shiva came home and found this strange boy telling him he couldn’t enter his own house. Lord decided to fight with him, and in his divine fury severed Ganesha’s head, killed him instantly. When Parvati learned of this, she was so enraged and insulted that she decided to destroy the entire Creation! Shiva realizing his mistake, so he placed elephant’s head on Ganesha’s body. Breathing new life into him, he declared Ganesha to be his own son.
